What are the “JIS Z1541 high potential pressure sensitive adhesive double coated tapes”?

The JIS Z1541 standards cover the requirements for “high potential pressure sensitive adhesive double coated tapes that have high adhesive strength, are highly resistant to heat and are capable of supporting part of the load applied on joined and other areas.”

The standards include a set of tests for evaluating the performance of adhesive tapes. Depending on what tests they pass, adhesive tapes are classified into one of three categories: S1, S2 or S3. S1-1 is the most stringent of the three.
